what is blogswapping about?

in every blog community, there are users who only read a couple of blogs at first without posting anything but comments, and eventually want to have their own blog later. sometimes this is not possible because in that particular community the creation of new blogs is disabled temporarily or forever. however, there are often old blogs that no one needs, which could be recycled.
the purpose of blogswapping is to facilitate just that. users who want to give away old blogs can post a story here in order to create a central place people still without blogs can come to.
but if you like antville, you shouldn't really try to bring the server to its knees by squeezing ever last resource out of it; donations to help buy better hardware and stuff would be much appreciated.
Update 2002-12-18: Donations to help buy better hardware and stuff have been made, well over 2000 euros so far! They will primarily be used to keep Antville up at all, not extend it, so blogswapping still makes sense. got a blog to let ... works as intended, there are actually people advertising their abandoned blogs and others picking them up. However, looking for a blog ... was primarily used by lazy bastards who didn't want to look at what's available themselves, but make the nice, generous people who help recycling their old blogs do even more work and chase someone down who wants their blogs. Please don't do that. Only use that category if what you're looking for is really not available. In this case, I'll try to notify you once a blog for you becomes available. But I can't play matchmaker, take you by your hand and lead you to an appropriate "got a blog to let ..." entry, sorry.
N.B. i'm not an antville administrator/manager/organiser. this is nothing official. i just set this up because a few people found it might be needed (while others didn't). i can't tell you when there will be new antville blogs. however, as of now, i can tell you how to donate:
now go look who's got a blog to let ...
